Tata Sierra 2025: Tata Motors’ Legendary SUV Makes a Comeback in a Futuristic Form
Tata Motors is preparing to bring back one of its most legendary SUVs — the Tata Sierra. The iconic SUV, which first appeared on the scene in the 1990s, is returning in a brand-new modern incarnation. Scheduled to enter the Indian market by the end of 2025, the Sierra will be available in electric (EV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants in keeping with Tata’s plans to increase its range of premium SUVs.
Design and Styling
The new Tata Sierra 2025 perpetuates the essence of the first in a bold, boxy stance and signature rear glass panels but with a futuristic touch. Inspired by Tata’s new design language, the SUV will incorporate LED headlights, connected tail lamps, muscular wheel arches, and premium alloy wheels. The design will be intended to marry nostalgia with modern sophistication.
Engine and Powertrain Options
Tata Motors intends to make Sierra available in a variety of powertrain choices:
1.5L Turbo Petrol Engine – providing robust performance for city and highway driving.
Diesel Engine – anticipated for SUV enthusiasts who value torque and highway efficiency.
Sierra EV – an all-electric variant on Tata’s sophisticated Acti.ev platform with a range of 500–600 km on a single charge.
The EV model is likely to appeal to green-conscious customers seeking a luxurious electric SUV.
Features and Interior
On the inside, the Tata Sierra 2025 will have a luxury cabin with dual-screen configuration, wireless integration, premium interior, panoramic sunroof, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The SUV is also likely to have connected car technology, ventilated seats, and smart climate control.
Expected Price and Competition
The new Tata Sierra should come priced between ₹20 lakh – ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom) based on the variant. It will be going up against SUVs such as Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Creta EV, Kia EV5, and MG Hector. The Sierra EV will also go against future premium electric SUVs in Indian auto markets.
