Team India took full control of the third and final ODI against Australia after bowling out the hosts for just 236 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday.
Batting first, Australia never really looked settled. Even though Matt Renshaw fought hard with a solid 56, regular wickets kept falling at the other end. Steve Smith and Josh Inglis got decent starts but couldn’t convert them into big scores as India’s bowlers kept up the pressure.
For India, young pacer Harshit Rana was the star of the show. He picked up 4 wickets for 39 runs, troubling almost every Australian batter. Washington Sundar and Mohammed Siraj also chipped in with two wickets each, helping India wrap up the Australian innings in 46.4 overs.
Chasing 237, India made a confident start. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill looked in fine touch, adding quick runs and giving India a perfect platform. At one point, India were comfortably placed at 121 for 1 in 21 overs, with Virat Kohli joining Rohit in the middle.
With a modest target and plenty of batting to come, India look well on their way to finishing the series on a winning note. After being 0–2 down, this performance could be the perfect comeback for the Men in Blue before the upcoming T20 series.
