Nissan Unveils Tekton SUV: A Bold Return to the C-Segment
Japanese car maker Nissan Motor India has announced its next big move in India: the launch of the Nissan Tekton, a C-segment SUV that will be launched in 2026.
With the new model, Nissan will look to take on segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Maruti Victoris.
Design & Styling
The Tekton’s design takes heavy cues from Nissan’s flagship Patrol SUV, resulting in a tough, upright look. The front gets a flat bonnet, a dominant grille surrounded by L-shaped LEDs, and robust horizontal lines.
Sides feature bold flared wheel arches and squared proportions that enhance its muscular appearance. The rear should be unique with a joined light bar and squared trim.
Interior & Features (Expected)
Though Nissan is yet to announce complete interior details, initial teaser shots indicate a luxurious design with soft-feel trim, gloss black accents, and perhaps copper or contrast trim throughout the dashboard.
On the tech side, the Tekton should feature a big infotainment screen, a digital driver display, wireless phone connectivity, ambient lighting, push-button start, and advanced driver assistance features (Level 2 ADAS) like 360° cameras and automatic braking.
Safety will also be a priority, and the car should have multiple airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, and other standard safety features.
Platform & Powertrain
The Tekton will have its foundation shared with the forthcoming Renault Duster, constructed on the CMF-B platform under the Renault-Nissan alliance.
Powertrains could range from 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre petrol units. Automatic (or dual-clutch/CVT) transmission models are anticipated. There are also some rumors of hybrid or mild-hybrid variants to enhance efficiency.
Nissan has also announced that the Tekton will be produced in India at Renault-Nissan’s plant in Chennai, which will supply the domestic market as well as select export markets.
Launch Timeline & Expected Pricing
The Nissan Tekton will arrive in Indian shores in Q2 2026 (mid-2026).
Earlier speculation puts its price point at around ₹10.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
Strategic Importance for Nissan
The Tekton is a cornerstone of Nissan’s re-entry bid in India as part of its “One Car, One World” strategy. From depending on subcompact vehicles such as the Magnite heavily, Nissan is now trying to leave its mark on the highly competitive C-segment SUV segment.
Through local production and platform sharing with Renault, Nissan believes it can control costs while providing a feature-laden product.
