Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali 2025 with the brave personnel of the Indian Navy aboard INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier, in Kochi, Kerala. Continuing his long-standing tradition of spending the festival of lights with the armed forces, PM Modi’s visit aimed to honor the sacrifices and dedication of India’s military heroes.
During the celebration, PM Modi also spoke with officers and sailors, applauding their unshakeable devotion to guarding India’s seafront boundaries. He also distributed sweets among the naval personnel and wished their families a happy festive season, stating that “the nation sleeps peacefully because of the dedication of our soldiers.”
Speaking to the gathering, the Prime Minister emphasized the Navy’s crucial role in guaranteeing the security of the nation and complimented the safe induction of INS Vikrant, terming it a “symbol of India’s increasing power and indigenisation.”
PM Modi also toured different parts of the warship, such as the command center and flight deck, where he was informed about the operational capabilities of the ship. The Prime Minister took pride in India’s naval development and highlighted the government’s thrust towards “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) in defense production.
This Diwali again finds PM Modi celebrating another year with India’s troops rather than at home — a gesture that still tugs at the heartstrings of citizens right across the country.
