New Delhi / Moscow — Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially confirmed that he will travel to India in early December 2025 to attend the annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Group in Sochi, Putin described the India–Russia relationship as “special,” referencing a long-standing strategic partnership, and reiterated that deepening economic cooperation with India is a priority for Moscow.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the timeframe for the visit has been finalised and that preparations are now in “full swing.”
Although exact dates had not been formally announced, multiple media reports suggest that the summit may take place around December 5–6, 2025.
On the Indian side, New Delhi is considering hosting parts of the visit in a city outside of Delhi; Jaipur, Agra, and Goa have been mooted as possible venues.
The upcoming summit will be Putin’s first visit to India since 2021 and is expected to serve as a platform for both countries to reassess their strategic, economic, and defence ties in a changing global environment.
This visit comes at a time of heightened international pressures, including tensions over India’s continued energy trade with Russia amid Western sanctions.
